What My Classes Entail
an initial informal assessment
an individualized education plan created collaboratively with the student(s) and teacher/parent
regular classes that are evidence-based and responsive to the child’s strengths, needs, context and goals
regular progress monitoring and meetings with teacher/parent
regular exchange of information regarding the student’s learning with the teacher/parent
Who My Classes Are For
students with possible or diagnosed learning difficulties or disabilities
for eg., a student with a possible or diagnosed learning disability whose poor reading comprehension is impacting his academic engagement and performance
students who are struggling in one or more of the following areas: reading, reading comprehension, writing, spelling, grammar, and vocabulary
for eg., a student who is doing well in most aspects of school except that she struggles to write coherently, or in ways that the subject and/or the board demands
students whose literacy skills are developmentally appropriate, but would like to read a larger number of variety of books, learn ways to talk/write about their reading, or write creatively in real-world genres such as poetry, memoir, and fiction
for eg., a student who is doing well at school but would like to learn to write stories of her own
